Are you registered to vote?As election day approaches, people are beginning to fear going to the polls because of the current pandemic. Election Day is November 3 this year and we have to make sure we are prepared. One of my favorite resources to access voting information is HeadCount, an organization that promotes the importance of voting in a democracy through partnerships with musicians and venues. Their website is filled with useful information including how to register to vote and where you can find your polling place. During this pandemic, the most important part of their website is the vote from home section under voting info. This is important because people who are rightfully afraid of going to the polls can still vote. If you do not want to go to the polls this upcoming election day, make sure to check your state's laws and request your ballot. This year's election is critical when addressing issues such as climate change, racial inequality, gun reform, immigration, and more. What are the most important things to do? Educate yourself, then vote for the person that represents your views the most.

Why is this important and how does MarbleWatch promote this message? 1) This message is important because by realizing everyone has the Earth in common, it should bring us together to help protect the planet. 2) MarbleWatch promotes the message that the Earth needs protection through the use of photography and by exposing problems that need we to address. About MarbleWatch and Its Logo From Their very own team members:“Why 'MarbleWatch'? Marble comes from the iconic photograph of the Earth, 'Blue Marble', taken from Apollo 17. In a single image, humanity could visualize the human condition- as residents of this single blue island in the void of space. One planet. And therefore, it's up to us to be it's stewards- to keep it going. Because there's no planet b. We're taking it on ourselves to watch out for our sole blue marble, by registering communities around the globe to be the eyes for their local environment and ecosystems- the very fabric of our world. We can't protect the planet from our own species alone. Our mission is to make every individual on Earth an environmental watchdog- a guardian of our blue marble. 'MarbleWatch'.”
-Maanit Goel, Founder “When the logo was designed, we wanted it to represent both the environment and activism. So, we created a symbol in the center that is a camera lens, a marble, and an eye, all at the same time. The camera lens represents how we are using photography to raise awareness and get people to be more invested in our environment. The marble is a reference to our organization’s name, MarbleWatch, and the eye signifies our pledge to watch over our planet and help keep it clean. The colors that wrap around the outside are inspired by the colors of Earth. The blue represents our oceans, while the turquoise represents our land and skies. Overall, the logo was designed to incite passion and leadership in the fight for our planet.” -Raneet Hans "Love the earth as you would love yourself" |
